Parsonal Data Collection and Purpose

When booking your tandem paragliding experience with True Adventure, we collect the following personal data: your name, contact information (including email address and phone number), and any additional information you choose to provide.

- Name: Personalise your booking and ensure accurate identification during your adventure.

- Contact Information: Including email address and phone number for crucial communication regarding updates, confirmations, and emergencies.

We do not store payment information.

Why We Collect Your Personal Data:

- Transactional Efficiency: Facilitating seamless booking experiences.

- Effective Communication: Ensuring timely updates and notifications.

- Legal Compliance: Adhering to contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

We do not collect or retain sensitive personal data, such as health information, during the booking process.

General Terms & Liability

1. Agreement

You can book our tours or services by agreeing to True Adventure’s Terms & Conditions.

2. Liability

True Adventure is not liable for damage, loss, accidents, or changes caused by external factors beyond our control. We reserve the right to change schedules and locations if necessary, letting you know that we must confirm 24 hours before departure. This timing ensures your safety and the smooth operation of our tours and services.

3. Definitions

True Adventure offers an introductory course on tandem paragliding flight provided by highly skilled instructors. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of handling and using a paraglider, including aerodynamics, weather conditions, and safety issues. However, flying solo requires a complete beginner’s course, such as Parapro 2 or an equivalent course provided by a certified paragliding flight school. All True Adventure instructors hold international qualifications as Advanced Tandem Pilots with APPI. Fisfelag Reykjavikur (FR), a certified ultralight club by the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration (ICAA), rates our pilots and operates under the International Airsports Federation (FAI).

At True Adventure, the term ‘tour’ encompasses a wide range of activities, some of which may include paragliding tandem flights. As a registered day tour operator in Iceland, we offer a variety of tours, each designed to provide a unique and thrilling experience. Some tours can be booked through our website, while others are available for you, catering to your preferences.

A ‘student’ is an individual who takes part in a tandem paragliding flight. A ‘customer’ is an individual who participates in a day course or tour or books any services True Adventure provides through their website or directly. Sometimes, a customer may also be a student, depending on the services they book.

A ‘booking’ refers to a payment made for any of the services provided by True Adventure, either directly through the booking forms on our website or via a payment link sent by us to you or a representative of True Adventure. The booking constitutes an agreement between you and True Adventure, and you agree to all the provisions of these Terms & Conditions, including the Refunds and Cancellation Policy.

4. Insurance

True Adventure strongly urges our customers to secure appropriate health and travel insurance, as True Adventure does not cover sports-related activities. While safety is paramount, accidents can occur. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance covering medical expenses and cancellations to ensure you are adequately protected in case of an unforeseen circumstance or emergency.

5. Scope of Agreement

Booking implies acceptance of payment terms and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Informed Consent

By accepting these Terms and Conditions, the customer acknowledges that there are inherent risks involved in all flying activities. The customer understands that flying a paraglider, like any other form of aviation or active sport, can be dangerous. The customer takes full responsibility for attending the introductory course and all associated activities, including any accidents, incidents, or damage to personal belongings that may occur during take-off, landing, or in-flight. The customer is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to participate in an introductory tandem flight. The customer agrees not to hold True Adventure, its instructors, or Fisfelag Reykjavikur liable for any injuries sustained during the course.

7. Refund and Cancellation Policy

7.1. On the Part of the Customer

Please write down all cancellations and requests for a refund on the part of the customer and send them to trueadventure@trueadventure.is. We understand that plans can change, and cancellations can sometimes be inevitable. Though we try to be flexible, please note that last-minute cancellations not only result in a loss of income for us but may also prevent us from taking bookings from other customers. The following terms apply for cancellations made by customers:

- Cancellations made more than three days (72 hours) before the tour departure time – 100% refund

- Cancellations made up to 12 hours before the tour departure time – 50% refund

- Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the departure time – True Adventure will not issue a refund

- No show at the pickup location or meeting point – True Adventure will not issue a refund

7.2. On Part of True Adventure

In cases where True Adventure cancels the tour/course due to weather conditions, safety considerations, or any other reasons:

- True Adventure will offer you a new departure time for the tour.

- If the customer accepts the alternative offer, it becomes binding, and any cancellations on the customer’s behalf will again fall under the same terms described above in the “On the part of the customer” section.

- True Adventure will issue A full refund if the customer doesn’t accept an alternative tour time.

- Rest assured, refunds are issued through our secure payment provider and thoroughly reviewed to ensure accuracy and fairness. While the process can take 1 to 3 weeks to complete, we strive to expedite it as much as possible. If you don’t see the refund appearing in your statement, please check with your card issuer/bank and let us know if there are any issues.

We always try to minimise cancellations; however, we will never risk our customers’ or pilots’ safety and will cancel if there is a valid reason. We will aim to contact the customer as soon as we know that we need to cancel a tour, so you must provide us with a valid email address and telephone number to reach you.

There will be no refund of part or all tour/course fees if the tour/course took place. If the day turns out to be non-flyable due to weather or other safety reasons outside True Adventure’s control, then the services are deemed to have been rendered.

8. Photo- and videography, terms of use.

True Adventure owns all photographs and videos captured using our photo equipment during a tandem paragliding flight experience or any other day tour we provide. As the sole proprietor of these media assets, True Adventure reserves the right to use them for promotional purposes across various media channels, such as advertisements and other marketing materials.

By participating in the tandem paragliding flight, you agree to this condition and acknowledge that True Adventure is authorised to use any visual content created during the experience for promotional and marketing activities.

9. Variation of Terms

True Adventure reserves the right to unilaterally change these Terms & Conditions. True Adventure shall notify the Customer of such changes by publishing them on its website. True Adventure shall grant the Client a reasonable period to get acquainted with the changes to these Terms & Conditions, but not less than two weeks from the publication of the abovementioned changes. We advise all our clients to check the Terms & Conditions before booking any of our Tours/ Courses in case any changes might affect them.
